Hello, I was searching for "Gensing Manor" online, because my Great, great Aunt Mabel Gardner used to be its proprietor and mistress of a private girls school based there in the 1920s I believe, she also owned two houses in Cumberland Gardens I believe and the land to the back of Gensing. I was wondering if you knew anything of the history of the property or where I could find this out (?)

Much obliged

Dominic Mattos

While your presentation is a bit lively, and your pop-up windows irritating, and your web design skills limited, it's great to see that Hastings has a website with so many familiar names and locations. Keep it up, keep modifying it, and show the world what great things Hastings really has to offer. I live in Southampton now, but look back with fond memories - help me keep them alive! Been a pleasure, JASON

Famous people:

Joanna Lumley was educated at the Convent of our lady, Filsham Road.

James Hunt spent his formative years at Westerleigh School, as did his 3 brothers.

Capt. John Foote was billeted at Westerleigh when he went on to gain his VC on the beaches at Dieppe. The only Padre to have done so in WW2

I agree with the critics of the site design. Read any of the professional design guides (such as "Sucky to Savvy", the Viewable with Any Browser Campaign, or Jakob Nielsen's www.useit.com) and they will tell you that most users think flashing logos are totally naff and, paradoxically, that they actually *reduce* the likelihood of someone following the link!

Its to colourful and to many things flashing, gives you sore eyes. Any way we are visiting your area in November and we are looking for things to do. We are a Kohanga Reo from Levin who need things to do with all our children. There are about 22 to 25 people. We so far have splash planet and a couple of parks is their any thing in your area where we can visit. Most of our people are under 5 so is there anything out there for them. Kia ora

I'm impressed by your site and pleased to see that the "Battle of Senlac Hill" is an event which you hold dear. I'm the Secretary of the Jersey Society in London. We always hold an event to commemorate the Battle. This year, on 12th October we shall be holding a dinner at University College London. Our guest is the Bailiff of Jersey, Sir Philip Bailhache, our President. He will be speaking about the ancient office of Bailiff and the challenges he faces in our very modern political society. Should any of your members wish to know more about the event, I will be pleased to hear from them
