Entry Form 2016

Theme: “1066 and All That”

5.00pm ..PARADE STARTS on Sat. 6th August 2016
3.00pm ASSEMBLY STARTS at Rock-a-Nore Car Park
4.15pm ALL ENTRANTS should be REGISTERED by now
This year judging will take place during the parade, where you will be judged not only on your costumes or float but on how you entertain.
(Arrivals after 4.15 MUST REGISTER may not be judged, but can join the procession)
All, except LATE ENTRANTS will receive class cards + Driver’s Safety Notices will be issued where appropriate.

CLASSES    

Please note there is now a 7.5 Tonne vehicle weight limit. This is because of the new pavements in High Street and for public safety. Larger vehicles will be at the back of the procession for pedestrian safety.

A. Pedestrian –families and mixed ages
B. Pedestrian – pubs and clubs
C. Pedestrian –charitable organisations and associations
D. Prams and other non-motorised vehicles
E. Visiting Carnival Courts
F. Majorettes (MUST SHOW CURRENT PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE)
G. Disabled vehicles
H. Motor Vehicles (mostly younger people)
I. Motor Vehicles (mostly older people)
J. Commercial and late entries (NOT JUDGED)

      All trophies awarded to be handed back to Registration at Coastguard Building at the end of the procession.
For vehicle entries, 2 printed names & addresses of walking marshals must accompany this entry form also
A COPY OF YOUR CURRENT VEHICLE INSURANCE CERTIFICATE.
If proof of current insurance cover is not provided, you will be unable to enter the procession.

CONDITIONS

  1. Vehicle maximum height from the ground – 13ft, maximum width – 8ft.  No more than 7.5 tonnes.
  2. All owners of participating motor vehicles should clear such use with their insurers and ensure that all vehicles are street legal.
  3. Motor vehicle entrants are required to effect their own liability insurances in respect of any injury arising or damaged caused to third parties, person or property in relation to the event. Vehicles that damage pavements may be charged for the cost of repair. This may not cover participants so please check with your own insurers or obtain a waiver–a copy of this must be attached to the entry form.
  4. Floats must not travel to or from the venue with people on the back.
  5. Each vehicle entry must provide 2 Walking Marshals alongside the float at all times, wearing
    Hi-Viz Safety wear.
  6. No commercial advertising (except class K) – no leaflets or flyers.
  7. A separate entry form must be used for each entry.
  8. Fire extinguishers must be carried on all vehicles where fire risks are concerned
  9. First Aid Boxes must be carried on all vehicles.
  10. The Committee reserves the right to reclassify or refuse any entry.
  11. Judging Majorettes – this will happen during the parade.
  12. The Judges decisions are final on all awards
  13. No loud music to be played at Assembly Area – the Carnival is intended to be Family Entertainment
  14. No parking at Assembly Area unless otherwise previously agreed.
  15. All participants to respect the property of local residents.
  16. A representative from every entry must obtain collection vessels from Registration.
  17. Only Official HOTCA collection vessels to be used and only HOTCA representatives are permitted to open collecting vessels.
  18. All monies collected are for Hastings Old Town Carnival Association only and are to be handed in at the Collection Point in Rock-a-Nore car park at the end of the procession. No private collections allowed.
  19. The throwing of any articles or squirting of liquids from floats or by pedestrians is banned.  Floats will be inspected and withdrawn from the procession if this rule is not complied with
  20. Due to Health & Safety ruling – at the end of the parade, vehicles MUST NOT turn right at the bottom of All Saints Street – they must all return to Rock-a-Nore Car Park
