When the Nimrod from RAF Kinloss flew over just before the start. the pilot, Squadron Leader Darren White,  who comes from Hastings, took these pictures of Hastings Old Town just before the Carnival set off

Pelham Crescent with St Mary in the Castle. the circular shape of the former church can be plainly seen. Hastings Castle is on the top of the cliff just out of shot.
