Hastings Old Town Pram Race 2015 - Wednesday 5th August

Pram Race Rules

Hastings Old Town Pram Race has been running for about 35 years and in order to maintain this successful event we have had to tighten up on the entrance rules and regulations.  This is to protect the event itself as well as the race goers, spectators and money collectors involved.

        • The event is open to anyone able to complete the course and not just those living in the Old Town.
        • Any theme allowed.
        • There is a minimum age limit of eighteen.
        • It is a team event – sizes are not limited, but ‘prams’ should be based on a pram-sized chassis or similar pedestrian propelled vehicle. No bigger that 8ft long - 5ft wide.  No shopping trolleys are allowed. The ‘prams’ must be safe to race and capable of completing the course.
        • A ‘pram’ is any pedestrian propelled vehicle deemed safe by the organisers – no motor or mechanically propelled vehicles will qualify e.g lawn mowers, scooters or bicycles.
        • No sharp edges to be on prams
        • A team member must walk in front of the pram at all times to ensure the safety of fellow race participants, spectators and property e.g. cars.
        • No water pistols – some teams take their pram in the  Carnival on Sat 8th August.
        • Alcohol may not be carried on prams and may be confiscated by marshals.
        • Teams must use dedicated crossings when crossing roads.
        • Entry forms are available at The Cutter Pub. Teams must enter in advance by 6pm Tuesday 4th Aug.
        • Entry forms and entry fee must be handed in to The Cutter by this time. Team name, team leader and contact information are needed for each racer. This is necessary for health and safety purposes.
Entrance Fee is £20 per team. This is to help with the additional expenses of road closures.
        • All rules must be adhered to by the whole team. Failure to stick to the rules, behaviour that is dangerous or considered appropriate will endanger the Pram Race Event Licence and the future running of the race.
        • Runners must have a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) at each pub and will have a sign in sheet issued at the beginning of the race, which must be signed by the bar staff officiating to indicate that their team has been to each pub.
        • The teams can only move to the next pub once they have answered a question or completed a forfeit.
        • All collection pots and sign in sheets to be returned to The Cutter at the end of the night.
        • Marshals are at various points throughout the course, and should be called on if you or your team needs assistance.
        • Prams should be taken away from the event and disposed of properly as Fly Tippers will be prosecuted.
        • Have Fun!
        • Stay Safe!

Please read the entry form and rules carefully and ensure that all your race goers follow them carefully.
