Catherine Cookson, world famous author spent 46 years in Hastings ( she spent longer in Hastings than anywhere else) and started her writing career here.

Hastings Grammar School about 1963 ( a small housing estate now occupies the site). Tom Cookson, Catherine's husband taught there and his Rover car can be seen parked in front of the school.
