Hastings Old Town Carnival Donations Evening 2009


Hastings Old Town Carnival Association held its annual Donations Evening at the East Hastings Sea Angling Association's Clubhouse on Sunday 1st March. In the presence of the Borough MP, Michael Foster, the Mayor of Hastings, Cllr Maureen Charlesworth and Deputy Mayor Peter Armstrong. Money collected at last year's carnival was distributed to local good causes which included Raynet, RNLI, Coastguards, St John's Ambulance, British red Cross, Hastings & St.Leonards Lifeguards, Gizmo, Hastings Coastal Twirlers, Surviving Christmas, Two Towers Trust, 2nd Hastings Brownies, 2nd Hastings Guides, Crest Playgroup, Rock-a-Nore Football Club, Dragonfly, Youth University, Kipling Unit,care for the Carers, Hastings & St.Leonards Association for the Blind, Hastings & St.Leonards Seniors Forum, Conquest Hospital Radio, Ore Kidzone, Ore triple 20's, Parchment Trust, Royal British Legion, St. Michael's Hospice, Sara Lee Trust, Samaritans, AYME, Hastings Gateway, Focus on Mental Health, Huntingdon's Disease, Susses Autistic Community Trust, Bohemia Counselling Trust and Hastings Trolleybus Restoration Group.

Carnival Spokesman Ion Castro said "Thank you to everyone for turning up even if you weren't receiving a donation, it made the evening a great success enjoyed by all. We're sorry that the amount we were able to donate was down a little on previous years - that was because of the unseasonably unkind weather on Carnival Day last year but we are looking forward to a bigger and better Carnival this year."
