The Wilton Hotel occupied No's 1 & 2 Grosvenor Gardens in St.Leonards on sea at the seaward end of a short terrace at right angles to the sea and dates from about 1890. and appears to have operated as an accommodation provider from the beginning. In 1901 it was known as the "Wilton House of Rest", in 1916 it was known as the "Wilton House Private Hotel" but, by 1930 it was back to the "Wilton House of Rest", then, a few years later, Wilton Hotel and appered in the accommodation registers as such until 1952 when it occupied 1 - 5 Grosvenor Gardens but appaers to have closed down and was subsequently listed as 'Wilton House'. |
