7.30pm for 8pm OPENING GALA CONCERT OF THE  1066 JAZZ CLUB FOR THE FESTIVAL OF JAZZ  
High Beech Hotel, Eisenhower Drive off Washington Drive, Battle Road, St Leonards. Bob Kerr -Whoopee Band known as the most entertaining band specialising in traditional jazz idiom around today. 9 am SUSSEX GRAND PRIX OPEN TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT 
Summerfields Leisure Centre, Cambridge Road, Hastings. Competitors from around England in fierce competition for cups and medals. Under the watchful eye of top class judges, today's heats will seek out the best. Organiser: Carol Beames 01273 501884.

9.30am. OPENING CEREMONY 

Eastern end of Town Centre Precinct - Flag Pole Site. Assembly of Youth Services and Ex Service Standard Bearers. Hastings Sea Cadets Band and the 1066 Pipe Band led by Town Crier Jon Bartholomew march via the Underpass to join the assembly. One cadet from each service to man the flagpoles to raise the Union, the Borough and the Euro flags. The Mayor Clir. Jackie Dowling will then declare the opening of HASTINGS WEEK. The 1066 Pipe Band to play, then the order will be given to dismiss. 

11 am - 4pm 999 SERVICES EVENT
Displays by Ambulance, Coast - Guard, Fire, Helicopter, Lifeboat and Police. Exciting with some memories from the past. 9am SUSSEX GRAND PRIX OPEN TABLE TENNIS FINALS DAY. Fierce battles continue and finally the winner will emerge. The Mayor, Cllr Jackie Dowling will present the cups and medals during the evening, thanking the organisers and all those taking part.

11 am JAZZ BREAKFAST: 
MARTIN TAYLOR (GUITAR)  One of the great jazz legends having played with everyone including Stephan Grapelli. St. Mary in-the-Castle, Pelham Place, Hastings.

ALEXANDRA PARK
11am ALEXANDRA PARK MINIATURE RAILWAY GROUP EVENT 
The re-opening of the miniature railway in Alexandra Park. 
The newly formed Alexandra Park Miniature Railway group aims to run passenger hauling
miniature trains from 11am to about 4pm on the miniature railway in Alexandra Park, located
just North of the former Pets Corner. The event will be opened by the mayor, and rides are by
donation. The Alexandra Park Miniature Railway is a non profit making organization run entirely
by unpaid volunteers who intend to open the railway approximately once a month to give
mainly steam train rides to the young and young at heart. For more details e-mail

You will be amazed to see the improvements in hand already and to hear about the plans for the future. Few towns have such a beautiful Park and for a Seaside resort it really is a bonus.

2.45prn THE GONFALON CEREMONY -THE RAISING OF WILLIAM'S FLAG 
in the grounds of Hastings Castle. Sussex Brass to play as audience assembles and Standard Bearers, Cadets, and Bands form up. Arrival of the Mayor C11rjackie Dowling and Consort to be greeted by Chairman of Hastings Week Committee. Sgt. Major Pelling to order all to face the flag pole on the hill and a piper will play as the order is given' Raise the Standard'. The Drums are in place and the Service will be conducted by the Rev P Coekin of Emmanuel Church. Hymn sheets will be available. At the end of the Service entertainment will take place.The Sea Cadets Band will play followed by the spectacular Sacred Flame Fire Theatre Company. Exciting! Scottish Sword Dancers. At 4.15 pm the parade will be reformed for the Sunset Ceremony followed by a speech by the Mayor. Lt Cmdr. Chinn to escort the Mayor to the saluting base.The Sea Cadets to play the National Anthem and the anthems of visiting Twin Towns.  All colourful and impressive!
