There will be something for everyone and for all ages. Don't miss it! The 935th Anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. We bring you a festival of Hastings TODAY.

CIVIC PRIDE & COMMUNITY AWARDS.
Nomination forms available from the Community & Leisure Services Dept. 4, Robertson Terrace, Hastings for a Person or group who/which has made a Special contribution to the well-being of our town voluntarily. The Schools are involved at both Primary and Senior levels. Closing dates for the nominations is 1st September for Groups and 17th September for the schools. judging 1st October and Hastings Day, 14th October in the Town Hall.

THE SENIOR CITIZEN'S PAINTING COMPETITION  P O'BRIEN MBE,WRVS. The past entries have all been amazing, so don't keep your talent hidden, pick up paint brush and have a go! Entry forms are available from:The Hastings Information Centre and your entries should be returned to Sarah Crosby by mid September at the same address. Judging will take place on the 5th October when there will be an exhibition of all entries in the Town Hall throughout October. Presentations: 5th October at 4pm.

1066 CHILDREN'S POETRY COMPETITION - JOSEPHINE AUSTIN Calling all young poets! Entries 4 -18 years Subjects:
 4 -11 Yrs. (Going back to innocence). Hops taken, Spinning tops and marbles. 
12-18 yrs. Free subjects. Forms will be circulated the schools doing June/July and should be returned to Mrs Austin at 16, Marianne Park, Dudley Road, Hastings.TN35 5PU. 'The prizes will be presented during Hastings Week.


HOBBIES AND CRAFTS EXHIBITION
Horntye Sports Complex 18th - 20th October Participants in the Exhibition are advised to make their requests for space on 1 st September or as near that date as possible. Interest seems to be keen so don't delay!

THE 7th BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION 1066 SPONSORED WALK Pevensey to Battle, Sunday September 23rd 200 1. Follow the footsteps of Wifflarn the Conqueror on the British Heart Foundation's 7th 1066 Walk. Routes of 5, 9 or 16 miles, ending in historic Battle,Walk in friendly company and enjoy a delicious tea at the end. Families, teams and dogs welcome!

HASTINGS COLLEGE OF ARTS &TECHNOLOGY
Our Congratulations and acknowledgement of the success of our College: A College Presentation - "Celebration of Success". This will be the first cross college celebration of Achievements and Successes to be held by Hastings College of Arts and Technology to be held at St. Mary in the Castle on Tuesday, the 16th October. Each of the schools (Depts) will nominate up to four outstanding students for awards that, will recognise excellent achievement during their studying. During the day there will be an exhibition of students work and the Award Presentation will take place during the evening. We are honoured to have as our guest of honour Lord Herman Ouseley of Peckam Rye to present the Awards. Lord Ouseley is one of the first people to be honoured under the People's Peerage Scheme and he was the former Commissioner for Racial Equality.

COASTAL CURRENTS 2001 A Visual Arts Festival for the South East Coastal Region. This is the Third Contemporary Visual Arts Festival for the South East Coastal Region. During September and October the festival aims to raise the profile of artists working in the area, offer greater access to the working process of artists raise the awareness of the cultural identity of the area and develop new audiences for the Arts. Participating venues in Hastings: Art in Hospital, Hastings College, Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, Stables Gallery, St Mary in the Castle and the White RockTheatre.

STABLES THEATRE GALLERIES
The Bourne, Old Town, V Flack. Exhibition in Main Gallery. Paintings, pastels and portraits by Sophie Mason and Lorna Vahey. In Show Case: Ceramics by Sarah Palmer. Upper Gallery. From Ist October, paintings by Bruce Williams. Open Daily from 10-30am to 1 pm and during performances.
