The Fishermen's Museum - Rock-a-Nore Road, Old Town

Formerly a church, now exhibiting many fishing artefacts of yesteryear, the centrepiece of which is "The Enterprise", one of the last Hastings' sailing luggers. Tush & Pat Hamilton's famous Fishermen's Rolls
Tush & Pat Hamilton will be under the prow of the "Golden Sovereign" in Rock-a-Nore, (next to the Fishermen's Museum), Old Town Every day this week 11 am - 5 pm (except Friday 13th)
Selling their delicious Fishermen's Rolls with fresh fish direct from Hastings Fishmarket using filleted fish cooked in olive oil in a soft bun.

Jackie Cullen from Hastings Bird Rescue brings her owls to the Old Town. Learn about the birds and even stroke them. Jackie also provides an unusual service in Hastings, flying her owls to ward off unwanted pigeons. Hastings Bird Rescue relies solely on donations. Cancelled if Wet.

Best Dressed Old Town Shop Competition
Transport theme displays will be up throughout the week. Mayor will present the 'Pam Brown' Trophy to the winner, and the 'Ray Goode' Trophy to second place. Contact lan Porter for further information on Hastings 812662

Hastings Horror Walk

Haunted Hastings Guided Walk
7 and 14 October 1 A no gimmicks view of local hauntings offering thought-provoking explanations. Intended only for those prepared to give the subject serious consideration. Participants with dogs on leads welcome.

Hastings Old Town Ghost Walk
7, 10 and 15 October join Tina Lakin for 75 minutes of Spooky Tales on a lantern lit tour. Advance booking advised. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Ghostly Murder Mystery Game
13 October join Tina Lakin to help solve an Age Old Murder Mystery in the heart of Hastings Old Town, based on one of her most famous Ghost Stories. Follow the clues, solve the riddles and discover the truth. A great night for all. Advance booking advised. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

A colourful scene of Standard Bearers, services and youth groups. The Town Crier introduces the Mayor who formally opens the week of festivities. Opportunities to try your hand at machine knitting and learn how to achieve that professional finish for your hancicrafted knitwear through exquisite hand finishing techniques. 2.30 pm Official Old Town Walk Meet at top station of West Hill Lift (You will find the West Hill Lift at the western end of George Street. Take a trip up in the lift to the top station or walk up via Cobourg Place and over the hill). The Official Old Hastings Preservation Society walk, with experienced guides is downhill and takes approx 2 hours, with visits to the many historical and picturesque sites of Hastings Old Town. Free, but donations welcome.

12 noon - 2 pm Exhibition of Amateur Boxing by members of West Hill Youth Club Priory Meadow Shopping Centre Members will be demonstrating their skills in exhibition bouts and training methods in a Boxing Ring. West Hill Boys Club was founded in 1938 by members of a successful local football club who wanted to expand their activities. The original club was based in Emmanuel Church Hall, but moved to larger premises in Whitefriars Road in the early 1940's and has been there ever since. A boxing section was started in 1948 and began a tradition that has seen West Hill Youth Club become one of the leading boxing clubs in the UK. The coaches devote a huge amount of time and effort to training the boxers and it is all done on a voluntary, unpaid basis. 7.15 pm Smugglers Walk - Walking Tour Meet at Shipwreck Heritage Centre, Rock-a-Nore, Old Town An atmospheric and entertaining guided walk of approx 1 hour 20 minutes around Hastings Old Town and Fishing Quarter, recounting true stories of smuggling in Hastings in the 1 8th and 19th Centuries and the involvement of local people. Conducted by Clive Richardson, British Tourist Authority Blue Badge Guide. 7.15pm Lighting of Hastings Beacon Top of East Hill, Old Town. Hastings Runners carry a lit torch from Pelham Place to the East Hill to start the procession

7.30 pm Torchlight Procession by Hastings Borough Bonfire Society The traditional Sussex Bonfire procession with representatives of Bonfire Societies from across Sussex marking the 401st anniversary of the Gunpowder Plot and 940th anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. Commences from The Stade, up All Saints Street and down the High Street to the promenade, turning right at Albert Road, into Queens Road turning at the junction of South Terrace back to the Town Hall to be joined by the Mayor, other officials and Town Criers. At the Town Hall the Town Crier reads the declaration of the America Ground, the procession continues cross the America Ground to the promenade and finishes at Pelham Place car park.

Bonfire on the beach with our famous effigies (who or what will the secret effigy be this year?). Please keep outside the barriers and do not pick up discarded torches or bring your own fireworks. Keep your children with you and pets indoors.

9 pm Fireworks and Bonfire by Hastings Borough Bonfire Society and Renegade Pyrotechnics One of the UK's largest, loudest and most extraordinary fireworks displays and one of the UK's largest Bonfires. Collections for local charities, please give generously, all money collected goes to charity.
