The week in detail   HOME and Contents

There will be something for everyone and for all ages. Don't miss it! The 936th Anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. We bring you a festival of Hastings TODAY

Phil Scott, Mayor of HastingsThe Right Worshipful the Mayor  Councillor Phil Scott

OVER THE LAST THIRTY-FIVE YEARS we have seen Hastings Week develop into a unique celebration of events which is supported by organisations such as the 1066 Jazz Club, Hastings Bonfire Society and Opera South East. The many other organisations which take part ensure that local people here in Hastings, and indeed others from outside the town, are able to participate and celebrate a fantastic Hastings Week full of something for everybody.
As always, there are many people in the background ensuring that Hastings Week not only happens but that it is a great success and for that I would thank everybody involved in making it happen, in particular the Chair of the Committee Dorothy Clements.

Simply enjoy!!
Councillor Phil Scott
Mayor of Hastings

A Note from the Chair

THROUGHOUT THIS JUBILEE YEAR OUR TOWN HAS BEEN displaying many talents and now it is the turn of the HASTINGS WEEK COMMITTEE, whilst celebrating a date from the past, to bring you a Festival of Hastings TODAY. Last year was considered particularly successful and now we have to strive to do as well, if not better
We hope to make contact with some of our nineteen namesakes around the world, remembering the time clock, of course! This with the help of the Hastings Electronics and Radio Club. The Photography Competition celebrates the centenary of Judges Postcards Ltd. with additional sponsorship from Marriotts Photographic supplies, should bring wonderful scenes of Hastings and the 1066 Country, so get snapping! The Hobbies & Crafts exhibition is expanding, the Youth Concert shows talent beyond belief whilst Bands like Sussex Brass and the 1066 Pipe Band and Drums excel. There is jazz and Light Opera at the highest level. The Public will have an opportunity to air their views at Regeneration Part 2 and Question Time and the National Town Criers will be calling. Fine Exhibitions and much, much more, all topped off by our Splendid Bonfire Boys.
I shall look forward to meeting you somewhere within the week and I do hope that you will enjoy it all.
